Steve Bellas has maintained a dual career in
broadcasting and education. He was with the
New Orleans NBC affiliate for 22 years as a
news reporter, anchor, and weather anchor,
and he's reported for the ABC and the PBS
affiliates, as well. He has covered over 40
hurricanes and tropical storms in and out of
the studio, and his stories have taken him
from the Crescent City to Europe. They have
aired on CNN, NBC, and the BBC.
Mr. Bellas holds a B.A. and M.A. in
Communications from Southeastern Louisiana
University and the University of New
Orleans.
He has taught on the secondary and
university levels for over 20 years,
including Tulane University and the
University of Innsbruck, Austria, where he
served as visiting professor with the
University of New Orleans/International
Program.
While currently teaching broadcast
communications at Southeastern Louisiana
University, and hosting the Telly™
award winning program, NORTHSHORE FOCUS, on
the Southeastern Channel, Mr. Bellas
continues as a broadcast journalist and
media training consultant.
His 2007 Communicator™
award winning business documentary, TEN
YEARS IN ONE DAY, on post Hurricane Katrina
Recovery, has been nominated for numerous
regional and national awards. A year later,
Mr. Bellas followed up that report with
another business documentary, AFTER THE GOLD
RUSH.
