Steve's Bio |
Steve Bellas is a broadcast journalist and media
training consultant. He's maintained a dual career in
broadcasting and education. Steve was with the New
Orleans NBC affiliate for 22 years as a news reporter, anchor, and
weather anchor. He's also reported for the New Orleans ABC and PBS
affiliates and MSNBC. Steve has covered over 40 hurricanes and
tropical storms in and out of the studio, and his feature stories have taken
him from the Crescent City to Europe. They have aired on CNN,
NBC, and the BBC.
His 2008 Communicator™
award winning business documentary, TEN
YEARS IN ONE DAY, on post Hurricane Katrina
Recovery and follow-up documentary, AFTER THE
GOLD RUSH ( Southeastern
Channel), have been nominated for numerous
regional and national awards.
Steve is
a faculty member in the Department of Communication, Southeastern
Louisiana University. He holds a B.A. and M.A. in Communications from Southeastern
and the University of New Orleans.
He has
taught on the secondary and university levels
for over 20 years, including the University of
New Orleans, Tulane University,
and the University of
Innsbruck, Austria, where he has served as visiting
professor with the UNO/International Program. |
